Introduction
Tatsunori Hosokawa (born September 29, 1832 – died August 17, 1888) was the 10th lord of the Higo-Uno Clan. He held the court rank of Yamashiro no kami (Governor of Yamashiro Province), inherited the family headship, and later retired. Detailed records exist regarding his tenure as clan head and family composition.
Life
Tatsunori Hosokawa was born on September 29, 1832, in Higo Province, as the second son of the 9th clan lord, Yukifune Hosokawa. He came of age and received his formal court rank in October of the third year of Tenpō (1832). In May 1851, due to his father's illness, he retired, inheriting the family headship. On December 16 of the same year, he was awarded the court rank of Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade, and appointed Yamashiro no kami.
On January 21, 1862 (Bun'kyū 2), he transferred the family headship to his brother and adopted son, Yukimasa Hosokawa, and retired from active administration. Notably, after retirement, his eldest son, Tatsuoki Hosokawa, was born in Meiji 4 (1871). Tatsuoki later became the 12th lord as the adopted son of Yukimasa.
