Algernon Cecil is an English essayist and the son of Lord Eustace Cecil, who is the son of James Gascoyne-Cecil, the 2nd Marquess of Salisbury. James Gascoyne-Cecil was the father of Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, the 3rd Marquess of Salisbury, who served as a British politician and prime minister from 1830 to 1903.
