Introduction
Liu Miqun, born in 1964, is a senior officer in the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force. She is the daughter of Liu Bocheng and grew up in Beijing. Liu Miqun received higher education at Beihang University (formerly Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics). During her studies, the socialist education movement was taking place in rural areas, which required college students to participate in an 8-month "social education" activity in the countryside to experience the lives and thoughts of the laboring people.
During this period, after Liu Bocheng learned of his daughter's arrangement, he provided active support. Through her participation in rural life, Liu Miqun gained practical labor experience and elevated her ideological understanding. She recalled that her father hoped she would understand the thoughts and feelings of the working people through her rural experiences, and he also emphasized that cadre children should avoid living in isolation and must maintain close ties with the masses. Liu Bocheng sternly pointed out that the comfortable life of cadre children, if detached from the masses for too long, could foster bourgeois ideals. He encouraged his daughters to personally experience rural life to prevent becoming "nobles within the Red Wall."
Subsequently, Liu Miqun dedicated herself to the Air Force, becoming the first female general in the history of the Chinese Air Force. Her career spanned several key positions, contributing to the development of China's Air Force. As the first female general in the military, she earned widespread recognition and became one of the prominent representatives of Chinese women demonstrating outstanding performance in military affairs.
Liu Miqun's growth trajectory not only showcases the influence of her family but also reflects the country's emphasis on cultivating military talents among the younger generation. Her story holds a significant example within the Chinese military, illustrating the importance of combining education with practical experience.
