Introduction

Noble Consort Xin (26 June 1737 – 28 May 1764) was a consort of the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. She was born into the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner Daigiya clan. Her personal name has not been recorded in historical texts. She was the daughter of Nasutu, who held multiple important government positions, including Minister of War (1736–1737), Minister of Justice (1737 and 1740), and Viceroy of Liangjiang (1737–1739, 1741–1742), as well as Viceroy of Liangguang (1744–1745). Her paternal grandfather was Daochan, who served as a superior censor. Her paternal great-great aunt was Consort Cheng, a consort of the Kangxi Emperor. Her mother was Lady Janggiya, and her maternal grandfather was Derui. Additionally, she had three elder sisters, each married to notable officials or figures: one to You Anning, deputy governor of Jiangsu; the second to Qichengge of the Wanyan clan; and the third to Fulongga of the Niohuru clan.

In the early years of the Qianlong Emperor's reign, Lady Daigiya entered the Forbidden City. The precise date of her entry into the imperial court is not documented. Around May or June 1754, she was granted the title "Concubine Xin" (忻嬪). She gave birth to the emperor's sixth daughter on 24 August 1755; this daughter died prematurely on 27 September 1758. On 16 January 1758, she delivered the emperor’s eighth daughter, who also died prematurely on 17 June 1767. On 16 October 1763, she was elevated in rank to "Consort Xin" (忻妃).

Noble Consort Xin died during childbirth on 28 May 1764. Following her death, she was posthumously promoted to "Noble Consort Xin" (忻貴妃) and was given a funeral appropriate for a noble consort. In 1765, her remains were interred in the Yu Mausoleum of the Eastern Qing tombs.

Throughout her tenure in the imperial court, her titles included: Lady Daigiya (from her birth in 1737), Concubine Xin (from May/June 1754), Consort Xin (from October 1763), and Noble Consort Xin (from March 1765). Her issue included the emperor’s sixth daughter, born in 1755 and deceased in 1758, and the eighth daughter, born in 1758 and deceased in 1767. Her death coincided with childbirth complications, possibly obstructed labor or miscarriage, at eight months of pregnancy.
