Introduction
Mibo Motohiro (born July 29, 1949) is a Japanese businessman. He was born in Tokyo as the second son of the former royal family member Moritaka-ō and Princess Seiko. His birth name was Higashikuni Hidehiko; later, he was adopted by the Mibu family and changed his name to his current one.
His paternal grandfather was Prince Naruhiko Higashikuni, who renounced his imperial status on October 14, 1947, and afterward did not hold any royal status. Mibo Motohiro graduated from Keio University’s Faculty of Business Administration after attending Keio Yochien, Keio Elementary School, and Keio Senior High School.
Regarding his career, he joined Japan Airlines in 1972. He later became a director at Daiichi Hotel in 1986 and served as vice president in 1992. In 2000, he joined Mori Building and became a senior managing executive officer in 2011 (serving as advisor since 2015). Since 2012, he has served as a director of the Yamashina Institute for Ornithology, and since 2015, he has been its chairman.
In his private life, he owns a villa in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, and as of 2010, he also served as a director of the local organization “Karuizawa Kai.” He is married to Sachiko Tsuchiya, the daughter of Tsuchiya Keiuo, chairman of Daiichi Hotel, and they have two sons: his eldest, Motonari, and his second son, Motaharu.
