Yoshiko Ishiba (née Nakamura) was born on August 26, 1956, in Tokyo, Japan. She is the daughter of Akira Nakamura, who was employed at Showa Denko. She attended Joshigakuin Junior and Senior High School, an integrated private educational institution.
Following her secondary education, Ishiba enrolled at Keio University, where she studied jurisprudence. Upon completing her university education, she began her professional career at Marubeni, a major Japanese trading company.
In 1983, Yoshiko Nakamura married Shigeru Ishiba. The couple has two daughters. As of 2024, her husband serves as the Prime Minister of Japan, having assumed office on October 1, 2024, after winning the 2024 Liberal Democratic Party presidential election.
