Introduction
Lin Yancheng was a native of Linjia Dawan Village, Huilongshan Town, Tuanfeng County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province. He was part of the Baiyangshan Lin family and the father of Lin Yuying. Many members of this family were involved in political and revolutionary activities in modern Chinese history. Lin Yancheng’s lineage was connected to Lin Shilang and Lin Shixi, who belonged to the same ancestral branch.
Lin Yancheng lived in a rural area and made his living through farming. His family’s financial condition was modest. His son, Lin Yuying, received his early education in Hubei and later became involved in workers’ movements and revolutionary causes. In 1922, Lin Yuying joined the Chinese Communist Party through the introduction of Yun Daiying and Lin Yunan.
Lin Yancheng spent most of his life in his hometown and valued family matters and the education of his children. Historical records indicate that his extended family was large and well established in the Tuanfeng region, sharing close kinship with Lin Yunan and Lin Yurong.
During the years when Lin Yuying was active in revolutionary work, Lin Yancheng and his family endured hardship due to social upheavals. Despite these challenges, the Lin family lineage continued, with later generations remaining in the local area
