Introduction
Chen Zeshan was born in Tainan City, Taiwan. Early in life he decided to pursue a career in the music industry. After graduating from high school he moved to Taipei to work in music, and his career has included a number of important positions at major companies.
In 1990 Chen joined Jinyuan Records to work in publicity. From 1997 he served as deputy general manager at Keynote Era (Ke Yi Nian Dai), gradually building industry experience. In 1999 he became a director at Universal Music (Taiwan), and in 2000 he moved to Warner Music to serve as deputy general manager of the domestic division. In 2006 Chen became managing director of Ko-Art/EMI (Ke Yi Bai Dai). He returned to Warner Music in 2008 as President of Greater China, a position he held until May 24, 2018. During this period he signed several well-known singers and promoted a number of influential records.
On May 24, 2018, Chen resigned as President of Warner Music Greater China. He officially joined Canxing Culture Media on September 10, 2018, serving as vice president, chairman of Dream Sound (music), and head of Channel V. After leaving Canxing, Chen founded Zeshan Music Entertainment and became its chairman.
Throughout his career Chen has acted as producer for many prominent artists; recordings he produced have repeatedly received top honors at the Golden Melody Awards. Artists he has produced include Na Ying, A-mei (Zhang Huimei), Stefanie Sun, Jolin Tsai, Tanya Chua, JJ Lin, Jam Hsiao and Xiao Huangqi. He also helped plan several Golden Melody Award-winning albums—for example, Na Ying won “Best Mandarin Female Singer” in 2001 for XinSuan de Langman, and A-mei won the same category in 2002 for True. Since then, artists such as Stefanie Sun, Tanya Chua, Jolin Tsai, Jam Hsiao and JJ Lin have won Golden Melody Awards in various categories.
During his time in the music industry, Chen Zeshan has devoted himself to artist development and music production, helping to promote the growth and prosperity of the Mandarin pop music scene.
