Introduction

Konoe Motosaki (近衛 基前; 1783–1820) was a Japanese court noble (kugyō) during the Edo period (1603–1868). He was the son of Konoe Tsunehiro. Motosaki held the status of a court noble but did not attain the positions of regent, such as kampaku or sessho.

His family relationships include a consort who was a daughter of Tokugawa Munechika, the ninth head of the Owari Domain. Through this marriage, he fathered a son, Konoe Tadahiro. He also had a daughter who later became a consort of Tokugawa Nariharu, the eleventh head of the Owari Domain.

The primary source of this information is an archived Japanese webpage focusing on the Konoe family, specifically the branch of the Regent family (摂家), which was retrieved in 2007.
