William James was an American philosopher, psychologist, and pragmatist born in 1842 and died in 1910, and was the son of Henry James, Sr., an American Swedenborgian theologian. Henry James, Sr., was the son of Catharine Barber, who lived from 1782 to 1859. Ellen King James, the daughter of Catharine Barber, was married to Smith Thompson Van Buren, the son of Martin Van Buren, who served as President of the United States from 1837 to 1841. Smith Thompson Van Buren lived from 1817 to 1876, and Ellen King James lived from 1813 to 1849.
