Romeo was born on June 8, 2017, with no detailed information about his birthplace. His mother is KunLing, whose birth name is Wu Tanzhen, born on August 12, 1993, in Ximending, Taipei City, Taiwan. She is a model, actress, and singer. His father is Jay Chou, a Chinese Taiwanese pop musician, actor, director, and screenwriter, born on January 18, 1979. His paternal ancestors are from Yongchun County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. Jay Chou was born in New Taipei City and graduated from Tamkang High School.

Romeo’s family members include his grandfather Zhou Yaozhong and grandmother Ye Huimei. His grandfather Zhou Yaozhong migrated to Taiwan due to war and was a biology teacher at Tamkang High School. His grandmother Ye Huimei also moved to Taiwan because of war and served as an art teacher at Tamkang Elementary School. His maternal grandfather is of Danish descent and lives in Australia. His maternal grandmother is of mixed Chinese Taiwanese and Korean ancestry.

During his childhood, Romeo has a sister named Hathaway, born on July 10, 2015, whose parents are Jay Chou and KunLing. On May 6, 2022, the family welcomed a baby sister named Jacinda.
