Introduction

Wu Qilong, born on October 16, 1970, in Taipei, Taiwan, China, with ancestral roots in the Minnan region of Fujian. He was born into an ordinary family, ranking second among his siblings. During junior high school, he was discovered by his judo coach and began professional training. After entering Xintai Middle School, he consecutively won the Taekwondo championship at the provincial secondary school sports meet for three years and often represented his school in judo and taekwondo invitational tournaments, accumulating a total of 23 championships and 135 medals. Notably, he won the championship at the 1985 Southeast Asia Taekwondo Competition. In 1986, based on his competition results, he was admitted directly to Taichung Physical Education College (now Taiwan Sports University) and was selected as a reserve candidate for the Asian Games.

During the summer of 1988, Wu Qilong was noticed by singer Tung An-gew and talent scouts from "Kai Li" company while running a street stall. After several rounds of planning and interviews, he impressed with his dance and backflip performances and entered the entertainment industry. The following year, he formed the "Little Tigers," a youth idol group, with Chen Zhipeng and Su Youpeng. He served as an assistant member on the Taiwan China Television program "Youth Contest," and in early October, the Little Tigers made their TV debut, gradually gaining popularity.

In 1989, the Little Tigers released their album "Happy New Year," which featured the popular songs "Green Apple Paradise" and "Colorful Sky, Colorful Dream." The album sold over 250,000 copies. Subsequent concert tours attracted more than 500,000 spectators. The group released multiple albums including "Carefree Travel," "Boys Don't Cry," and "Red Dragonfly," achieving great success in Taiwan and mainland China, with total sales exceeding 1.2 million copies. In 1990, the Little Tigers were nominated for Best Group at the first Golden Melody Awards and participated in the film "The Rouges." In 1991, they released the charity album "Love," which sold over 150,000 copies in one week and surpassed 2 million copies worldwide within two weeks. Their influence across Taiwan and Asia continued to grow, and they also embarked on large-scale joint tours as a couple.

In 1992, Wu Qilong launched his first solo album, "Chasing the Wind Youth," which was well-received. In 1993, he released several solo albums such as "Pursuing Dreams" and "Suddenly Looking Back," winning multiple music awards. He also held solo concerts in Hong Kong and overseas. In terms of film, he starred in "Back to School," "The Legend of Liang Shanbo," and "The Flower Moon Festival," receiving positive recognition. By 1997, he had released fifteen solo albums and won numerous music awards.

In 1998, Wu Qilong completed his military service, resumed his entertainment career in the following year, and gradually shifted focus to acting in films and TV dramas. Starting in 2000, he starred in numerous TV dramas and films including "Genesis," "Heroes of the Stealing Sky," and "The New White-Haired Witch," earning widespread acclaim for his acting skills. In 2003, he established Beijing Straw Bear Culture & Media Co., Ltd., beginning involvement in producing and investing in TV series and animation works. Between 2004 and 2007, he starred in many costume dramas such as "Detective Zhen Gun Dong," "Six Finger Magic," and "Ask How Much Sorrow Can You Have," gradually establishing an image as a skilled actor.

Starting in 2009, Wu Qilong started exploring cross-industry ventures, appearing in numerous TV dramas and variety shows. In 2010, he signed with multiple media companies, becoming an important producer and executive producer in the industry. His notable works include "Scarlet Heart," "The Legend of the Sword and the Fairy," and "Moving Toward Victory," all of which received high ratings and critical praise. In 2016, his role in "Sword Marvels of Shu Mountain" became a ratings hit and garnered numerous awards both domestically and abroad.

Regarding his personal life, Wu Qilong has been involved with and married to actresses Ma Yashu and Liu Shishi at different times. He married Ma Yashu in 2006 and Liu Shishi in 2013, with whom he has children. Their marriages have been widely covered by the media. Academically, he earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Fu Jen Catholic University and obtained an EMBA from Peking University in 2017. He has participated extensively in charitable activities and has received multiple social honors and awards.

Additionally, Wu Qilong has involved himself in brand creation and investment, launching his personal fashion brand "Black&White Energy" and collaborating with ED Hardy. He actively participates in public welfare, serving as the "Fujian Model Person for Righteousness and Charity," among other honors.
