Introduction

Princess Taiyuan, whose original name is unknown, was born in Zhongli, Haozhou (present-day Fengyang County, Anhui Province). She was the eldest daughter of Zhu Shizhen, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang. Her husband was Wang Qiyi, who was posthumously awarded the titles of Ronglu Daifu and Imperial Captain of the Escort Horse in the third year of the Hongwu reign. The princess had no children and died early. In the third year of the Hongwu reign, Zhu Yuanzhang posthumously honored her as Princess of Taiyuan and sent envoys to reinter her tomb at Xuyi, altering her clothes and crown for her burial.
