Ye Daoying (1906-1989), a native of Meixian, Guangdong, studied at Sun Yat-sen University and Shanghai Law and Politics University. After the Fujian Incident in 1933, he served as a member of the Xiamen Salt Administration Bureau and later as a tax commissioner in the Guangdong Department of Finance. Influenced by his brother Ye Jianying, he supported the revolution, sheltered members of the Chinese Communist Party during the Second Civil War, and mobilized salt merchants to support the Soviet areas. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he assisted the Eighth Route Army in purchasing firearms and helped young people defect to Yan'an. After the founding of New China, he served as an advisor to the Guangzhou municipal government, a member of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, and a State Council consultant, and continuously held a seat on the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. During the Cultural Revolution, he opposed the Gang of Four and actively participated in national affairs. He passed away in Beijing in 1989 at the age of 83.
