Introduction
James Charles Pitt (1761–1781) was a naval captain and the third son of William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham. William Pitt the Younger, a prominent British statesman who served from 1759 to 1806, was the son of William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham. William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham, held the position of Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1766 to 1768.
