Masoud Hosseini Khamenei, also known as Mohsen Khamenei, was born in 1974 in Iran. He is a member of the Khamenei family and is identified as a Twelver Shia cleric. He is the third son of Ali Khamenei, who served as the second Supreme Leader of Iran, and the younger brother of Mojtaba Khamenei, the current and third Supreme Leader of Iran.

In his personal life, Masoud Khamenei holds the title of "Hujjatul-Islam." He is married to a woman who is the sister of Sadiq-Kharazi, and through marriage, he is the son-in-law of Mohsen Kharazi, who is Tehran's representative in the Assembly of Experts. His family belongs to the Iranian Sayyid lineage, specifically from Hosseini Sayyids, and their genealogy traces back to Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin, the fourth Imam of Shia Islam, also known as Imam Sajjad.
Financially, Khamenei manages multiple family institutions. Reports indicate that he holds assets totaling over $400 million in banks located in France and the United Kingdom, with an additional estimated $100 million held in Tehran, Iran. He is also associated with the control of Renault vehicle sales within Iran.
