Maj. Thomas Gregory Smith

Maj. Thomas Gregory Smith, born on January 17, 1778, and deceased on April 15, 1822, was an individual whose familial connections include his daughter Mary Cooke Ruffin, born in 1816 and presumed to have died around July 28, 1857. His lineage continues through his granddaughter, Mary Cooke Ruffin's daughter, John Augustine Ruffin, who was born on February 25, 1853, and died on November 3, 1926. John Augustine Ruffin's daughter, Sue Ruffin (1889–1953), was married to Lyon Gardiner Tyler, the son of U.S. President John Tyler, who served from 1841 to 1845.
