Introduction

Wei Qingtai (unknown—unknown), a person under the Banner clothing management and head of the Plain Yellow Banner, father of Empress Xiaoyichun, the Empress Dowager of Emperor Qianlong, and great-grandfather of Emperor Jiaqing. He previously held the position of internal supervisor. His daughter, Wei Jiasi, entered the imperial harem during the early years of Emperor Qianlong's reign and was granted the title of Empress Xiaoyichun.

In the 13th year of Qianlong (1748), Wei Qingtai was responsible for the offerings of pastries honoring the late Empress Xiaoxian during the memorial ceremonies, but he was punished for delaying the presentation of the pastries. Because his official rank was "Promoted by four levels," he offset the two additional ranks, resulting in a two-level demotion. In the 16th year of Qianlong (1751), due to his daughter's influence, his family was transferred from the Banner clothing division of Niu Lu to the Manchu Merging Yellow Banner for carrying banners.

In the first year of Jiaqing (1796), Wei Qingtai was posthumously promoted to a Third-Class Grace Marshal Marquis, and his wife, Yang Jiasi, was conferred the title of First-Class Lady, Lady Gong.

Regarding family origins and lineage, the ancestor Wei Shou'en was a person under the Plain Yellow Banner clothing management, residing in Shenyang; the time of his arrival is unknown. His great-grandson Wu Yi was the chief steward of the Imperial Household Department. The great-grandson Wei Qingtai is the current internal supervisor, Qingning currently holds a Sixth-Rank official position, Yubao remains the treasury controller, and the Fourth-Generation descendant Jiqing is serving as a Bitiashi (according to the "Register of Manchu Banner Clans," Volume 74). His grandfather was Wei Sixing, a Guard Military School officer, and his father was Wu Shiyi, a high-ranking official of the Inner Office Department. He was married to Yang Jiasi, who served as a female official in the Yongzheng Emperor's court.

In terms of children, Wei Qingtai had sons including Bang'e, Yingmin, Debao, and Dexin (a Banner officer). His grandson was Guilin (son of Dexin, a Banner officer), and his great-grandson was Huashabu (son of Guillin, a Third-Class Grace Marshal, Deputy Commander, and Banner officer). Subsequently, Wei Qingtai's family gradually developed within the banner and official ranks, forming a noble clan lineage centered around Wei Jiasi.
