Arthur Gilstrap Soames (1854–1934) was the husband of Agnes Peel, who was the daughter of Sir Robert Peel, the 3rd Baronet and a notable British politician. Sir Robert Peel, the son of Robert Peel, served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the periods 1834–1835 and 1841–1846 and is recognized for selling his father's art collection to the National Gallery.
