Introduction

Sir Arthur Kaye, 3rd Baronet (circa 1670 – 1726), was a member of the English gentry residing at Woodsome Hall, near Huddersfield in Yorkshire. He was an English Tory politician who served in the House of Commons from 1710 until his death in 1726.

Born around 1670, Arthur Kaye was the third son of Sir John Kaye, 2nd Baronet, and was the eldest among his siblings to survive into adulthood. On 2 March 1686, at approximately 15 years of age, he matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford. He became the 3rd Baronet on 8 August 1706, upon the death of his father.

Kaye was elected as Member of Parliament for Yorkshire in the general election of 1710. He was returned unopposed as the MP for Yorkshire in the subsequent elections of 1713, 1715, and 1722, maintaining his parliamentary seat through multiple election cycles.

He died on 10 July 1726, leaving behind a daughter named Elizabeth. Elizabeth married George Legge, Viscount Lewisham, who was the heir to the 1st Earl of Dartmouth. Viscount Lewisham died in 1732, after which his eldest son William Legge succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Dartmouth.

Following Kaye's death, the baronetcy was inherited by his nephew, John Lister Kaye, who became the 4th Baronet.
