Introduction

Sachiko Yasuda (born September 9, 1941) is a Japanese classical singer, children's song singer, and soprano. She hails from Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Her blood type is O, and her real name is Sachiko Sawada. Her husband is Hisao Sawada, a former diplomat representing Austria in Japan, and her sister is Saori Yuki, a singer and talent.

Her career details are as follows: After belonging to the Hibari Children's Choir during elementary school, she joined Columbia and worked as a children's song singer. She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and later completed the master's program at the same university's graduate school. She also studied music at The Juilliard School in New York City and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. After serving as a lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts for 18 years, she retired to focus on concert activities. She is also active as a voice trainer.

In 1987, she was dispatched to Europe and America as a special overseas artist trainee by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Additionally, she serves as an auditor for the Japan Foster Plan Association (Plan Japan), working on supporting children in developing countries. Her only daughter is affiliated with the United Nations headquarters and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in New York and is involved in disaster relief activities worldwide.

Her musical activities with her sister began in 1982 when she participated in her sister Saori Yuki’s concert, which led to the start of sister duet children's song concerts in 1986. These performances have continued domestically and abroad, and on November 8, 2006, their 2000th concert together was held. In addition, from May 2007, they conducted a 21st-anniversary concert tour. Their musical activities have influenced artists such as Hiromi Iwasaki and the Yoshimi sisters.

She is also known for being impersonated by Akira Shimizu. She commented on this, saying, "I am very happy. I feel honored to be imitated," without anger. Especially regarding the impersonation of Saori Yuki by Michiko Shimizu, she stated, "I couldn’t tell the difference from the real sister (Yuki)."

She actively engages in public service activities, and in 2015, she became an adviser to the NPO "Music for Japan's Smiles," promoting community exchange through choir singing. From 2017, she has held a support concert titled "Music Journey à la Carte" in Tokyo, together with music producer Hidemitsu Okada and conductor Kazuhiro Sakamoto among others, supporting disaster-stricken areas. In 2018, she also held a free concert in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture.

As a sister duo, she and Saori Yuki appeared together ten times at the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, ranking second after The Peanuts with 16 appearances in terms of sibling/sister group performances.

She has appeared in films including "Green Is Far Away" (1955, Nikkatsu), where she played the Snow Spirit, and "This Road" (2019, HIGH BROW CINEMA), in which she played a female singer.
