Introduction
Li Xier, originally a prostitute, lived during the late Ming Dynasty Jing Tai period. During the reign of Emperor Jing Tai, Chen Yihe, an internal official of the Bell and Drum Department, and Jin Rong, the left head of the Ministry of Music at the Imperial Music Bureau, recruited Li Xier into the palace and favored her. Her brother, Li An, was granted the title of Hundred Household in the Jin Yi Wei (Embroidered Uniform Guard). In the eighth year of Jing Tai (1457), after the restoration of the Ming Emperor Yingzong, Li An was sent to the borders, and Chen Yihe and Jin Rong were executed. Afterwards, Li Xier was sent back home, and there are no further reports about her. According to rumors, after leaving the palace, Li Xier secretly gave birth to an illegitimate son of Emperor Jing of the Ming Dynasty, named Jian Bao Zhen.
