Tao Hong

Tao Hong was born in 1974 and graduated from Fudan University. Her professional career has been primarily centered on the family business, Juli Group, where she held important positions overseeing sales and import-export operations. In recent years she has also been responsible for developing the North American market and moved her family to live in Canada.

After marrying Yang Zi, Tao Hong had a daughter named Yang Hairun. Yang Hairun has shown outstanding musical talent, proficient in piano and guzheng. Tao Hong maintains harmonious relations with her family members and mainly resides in Canada. Within the family she is respectfully called “Third Mom” or “Third Madam,” and is cared for affectionately by the elder generations.

In her personal life, Tao Hong is a devout Buddhist and keeps the habit of volunteering at a temple weekly. Her relationship with her ex-husband Yang Zi is relatively amicable. Yang Zi comes from a different background and served as vice chairman and executive president of China’s Juli Group; he also served as chairman of Juli Film & Media and as director of the Dzi Bead Research Institute in Lhasa. Yang Zi has repeatedly acted as an ambassador for corporate social responsibility and public welfare in China and was appointed as a special researcher at the Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Relics Research Institute of the Palace Museum Research Institute.

On May 28, 2015, netizens revealed that Yang Zi and Tao Hong had actually divorced as early as 2004 and published the related divorce certificate. Yang Zi and Tao Hong share a daughter, Yang Hairun. Yang Zi later publicly acknowledged in the media that he was married to Huang Shengyi, stating that he had divorced Tao Hong eight years earlier and that he announced this after their daughter had entered middle school. In 2009 it was also disclosed that Tao Hong held shares in Juli Rigging, and that she, Yang Zi, and their daughter jointly held equity in the company.
