Introduction

Frederick Crist "Fritz" Trump III was born on November 15, 1962, in Manhattan, New York City. He is the son of flight attendant Linda Lea Clapp and Fred Trump Jr., a commercial airline pilot for Trans World Airlines and the son of real estate developer Fred Trump. Trump has a younger sister, Mary L. Trump, who is a psychologist and writer. Fred Trump Jr. died of a heart attack on September 26, 1981, at the age of 42, when Fritz Trump was 18 years old. The Trump family stated that his father's death was due to alcoholism.

Trump graduated from Lehigh University in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in economics. In his adult life, he married Lisa Beth Trump (née Lorant), a senior underwriter for a New York insurance company, in 1989. They have three children together. Their third child, William Trump, was born on June 30, 1999. William was diagnosed with a KCNQ2 mutation 15 years after birth, a genetic condition associated with severe disabilities including infantile spasms and cerebral palsy. William's initial diagnosis was infantile spasms and cerebral palsy; however, a specific genetic mutation was identified later.

Following the death of Fred Trump in 1999, Fritz Trump and his sister Mary L. Trump filed a lawsuit in March 2000 against several members of the Trump family, claiming they were being unfairly denied inheritance entitlements. During the legal dispute, Donald Trump and his siblings reportedly withdrew financial support from William Trump's medical funds. Donald Trump later admitted that this act was motivated by revenge related to the family estate dispute. The lawsuit was settled in 2001, with terms kept confidential.

In his professional career, Fritz Trump has been involved in real estate, working for firms such as the First Winthrop Corporation and Cushman & Wakefield. His roles included associate, leasing broker, managing principal, and senior director. He worked with Cushman & Wakefield for nearly four years until he was asked to leave in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Despite his family ties, he has not held a direct position within The Trump Organization.

He has been active in advocacy for people with disabilities. He has hosted at least two golf fundraisers for Abilis, a nonprofit organization based in Greenwich that supports disabled individuals, including those with developmental disabilities. Prior to these events, Abilis provided in-home therapy for his son William. During Donald Trump's presidency, Fritz Trump engaged with the Trump administration and the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities to promote investments for disabled individuals. He has also claimed to have visited the Oval Office approximately a dozen times to advocate on their behalf.

In his 2024 memoir, titled "All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way," published on July 30, 2024, Trump made allegations against his uncle Donald Trump. He claimed that Donald Trump had made dehumanizing comments concerning William Trump, including suggesting that William should be allowed to die due to the costs associated with his care. He also alleged that Donald Trump had made a generalized remark indicating that all individuals with complex disabilities should die, and that he used the N-word twice in one day after an incident involving tire slashing. Trump stated he does not believe his uncle is racist but accused him of exploiting people for personal gain.

These allegations prompted denials from Donald Trump's campaign representatives, who dismissed the claims as "fabricated" and "fake news." Eric Trump, Donald Trump's son, responded through a representative, criticizing Fritz Trump's decision to publish the memoir shortly before the 2024 election. Donald Trump himself issued a statement asserting that he has supported Fritz Trump more than anyone else and denied the allegations, suggesting that his sister Mary L. Trump may have influenced Fritz Trump to make these claims. Donald Trump added that he has not spoken with Mary Trump since her 2020 book, "Too Much and Never Enough."

Politically, Fritz Trump identifies as a Democrat. He has publicly opposed the overturning of Roe v. Wade and has expressed willingness to campaign against his uncle Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race. He has endorsed Kamala Harris and has indicated readiness to speak at the Democratic National Convention if asked. Despite his family connection, he has not voted for Donald Trump in previous presidential elections, voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. As of January 2025, Fritz Trump commented on political and security issues, criticizing the removal of security details for notable officials and advocating for stronger Democratic leadership.
