Wang Xiaofei

Wang Xiaofei was born in 1981 in Beijing to an ordinary working-class family and experienced economic instability in his early years. In 1997, he went to Europe to study and later graduated from ESSEC Business School in France and the University of Guelph in Canada. After returning to China in 2004, he joined his mother Zhang Lan’s restaurant group, South Beauty, as an executive director, overseeing overseas expansion and product design. In 2006, he established the high-end business club LAN Club. In 2008, South Beauty became the official catering supplier for the Beijing Olympics, leading to rapid business growth.
In 2009, Wang founded Beijing Helin Real Estate Investment Co., Ltd., venturing into real estate investment. In 2010, he married actress Barbie Hsu (Da S) and launched multiple brands associated with her. However, following the downturn in China’s catering industry in 2012, South Beauty failed in its IPO attempt. In 2014, Wang created the S HOTEL brand, but related investments suffered losses by 2018.
In 2020, leveraging his experience from South Beauty, he founded the high-end Sichuan cuisine brand Ma Liu Ji, which saw a significant increase in sales through live-stream marketing in 2022. His personal life has been full of ups and downs. He divorced Barbie Hsu amicably in 2021, with child custody granted to Hsu, while Wang faced a series of legal disputes and financial difficulties. In 2022, he was romantically linked to Zhang Yingying, and in 2024, he married Ma Xiaomei. Wang Xiaofei's career and personal life have been marked by changes and challenges, spanning the restaurant industry, real estate, and personal branding, making him a figure of ongoing public interest.
