Rose Leveson-Gower, Countess Granville

Rose Constance Leveson-Gower, Countess Granville (née Bowes-Lyon), was born on 6 May 1890. She was the third daughter of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and his wife, Cecilia Cavendish-Bentinck. Her familial connections include being an elder sister of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, which made her a maternal aunt of Queen Elizabeth II.

On 24 May 1916, she married The Hon. William Leveson-Gower. When her husband succeeded his childless brother as Earl Granville on 21 July 1939, she acquired the title of Countess Granville. The marriage produced two children:

- Lady Mary Cecilia Leveson-Gower, born on 12 December 1917 and died on 13 February 2014. She married Sir Samuel Clayton on 7 July 1956, and they had children. Their daughter is Rosie Stancer, a polar adventurer.

Her husband, Lord Granville, died on 25 June 1953 at the age of 72. She outlived him by fourteen years, passing away on 17 November 1967 at the age of 77. At that time, she was the last surviving sibling of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
