Introduction
Zhu Houxi was born on July 7, 1500, and died on July 12 of the same year. He was the eldest legitimate son of Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Youyuan. His birth mother was Empress Dowager Cixiao, née Lady Jiang. Zhu Houxi died five days after birth and was never given a name. In the fourth year of the Jiajing reign (1525), Emperor Shizong posthumously conferred upon him the title of King of Yue, with the posthumous name Huai (also written as Huai Xian). In the 39th year of Jiajing (1560), Emperor Shizong authorized the granting of the name Zhu Houxi to him.
