Introduction
Gongxi Li Fei, whose name is uncertain, also written as Wang Li Fei, was a consort of Ming Shizong Zhu Houcong of the Ming Dynasty. She was the daughter of Wang Ding, a ranking officer in the Jinyiwei (Embroidered Uniform Guard). She passed away on the sixty-first day of the thirty-first year of Jiajing (1553), that is, on June 26, 1553, in the Gregorian calendar. After her death, she was posthumously titled Gongxi Li Fei. Her funeral rites followed the standards set for Huairong Xian Fei Zheng Shi, and also drew upon the funeral customs of Ming Xianzong's Zha Fei. Her father, Wang Ding, was awarded the position of a colonel with a paid command in the Jinyiwei. On the fifth day of the ninth month of the same year, the emperor granted Wang Ding a monetary gift of over 2,760 taels of silver, as a token of special favor for his assistance during the mourning for the empress. According to the "Continuation of the Taichang Annals," Wang Li Fei, along with Bao Yi Fei, Chen Jing Fei, He Mu Fei, Zhu Yan Fei, Zhang Chang Fei, Wang Zhuang Fei, Gao He Fei, and Peng An Fei, was buried at the cemetery at Hongshikou in Jinshan.
