Introduction
John Peel was born on 22 August 1798 and died on 20 February 1875. He held the position of Dean of Worcester from 1845 until his death in 1875. Peel was the eighth child and the fourth son of Sir Robert Peel. He was a younger brother of Sir Robert Peel, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Peel received his education at Christ Church, Oxford. In 1828, he became the incumbent of the living at Stone, Worcestershire. In the same year, he was appointed a Prebendary of Canterbury Cathedral.
