Feng Siyu

Feng Suyu, born in 1989, is the daughter of Chinese film director Feng Xiaogang. In her early years, she suffered from cleft palate (harelip), and underwent surgical treatment at the age of one and a half. The surgery was successful, leading to improved speech capabilities. Her original name was "Feng Siyu," symbolizing hope that she could express herself normally in the future. Later, her father Feng Xiaogang changed it to "Feng Suyu," meaning the wish for her to grow up healthy and to have strong wings.

On December 30, 2008, Feng Suyu participated in the senior graduation ceremony at Beijing Normal University Affiliated High School. Her father Feng Xiaogang attended as a parent representative and delivered a speech. In 2009, she enrolled in the Management Department of the Beijing Film Academy and graduated in 2013. She continued her studies in film production at New York University in the United States.

Professionally, Feng Suyu served as the editor of the film "I Am Not Madame Bovary," directed by her father Feng Xiaogang, which won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival. She was the chief planner for the movie "Sunflower," which premiered on April 4, 2025.

In terms of family, her father is Feng Xiaogang, born on August 18, 1958, originally from Xiangtan, Hunan. He is a renowned Chinese film director and screenwriter, known for his Beijing flavor comedies. Her mother is Zhang Di, who previously worked as a nurse at a hospital in Beijing. Her stepmother is Xu Fan, a first-level actress of the Beijing People's Art Theatre, with an extensive career in stage, film, and television productions. Xu Fan and Feng Xiaogang have a daughter named Xu Duo, who is Feng Suyu’s sister; Xu Duo was adopted by Xu Fan and Feng Xiaogang.
