Introduction

Kunyí Li, born in 1970, is the granddaughter of Taiwan's former leader Lee Teng-hui. She is the daughter of Lee Teng-hui's only son, Xiànwén Li, making her the sole female child in the family. Her educational background is quite unique; she was unable to attend high school during her secondary education and therefore chose to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom. She studied at a noble school in Europe, where the annual tuition was as high as 1.17 million RMB. The student body at the school largely consisted of nobility and royal family members. After earning an MBA degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Li Kunyi’s exposure to the public gradually increased. She is 174 centimeters tall and has a dignified, outstanding appearance.

Her early life involved little political involvement, and she maintained a long distance from Taipei's political circles. As an adult, she mainly worked at her mother’s high-end Italian furniture store, which markets several top luxury brands under the name "Qinghuan Home Decor." The store's name is inspired by a poem by Su Dongpo, symbolizing tranquility and elegance in life. In addition to her business activities, Li Kunyi has appeared alongside various Taiwanese politicians. Notably, during a large pro-independence demonstration in 2003, she was brought to the scene.

Regarding her family's wealth management, she purchased a property in Taipei worth 50 million New Taiwan Dollars in 2007. Later, she acquired Hongxi Mountain Villa, bringing her total property holdings to 230 million New Taiwan Dollars. She runs the furniture store jointly with her mother. Her personal life has also garnered attention; on December 15, 2015, she married Zhao Zankai, general manager of the Hong Kong branch, in Taiwan. On the wedding day, Lee Teng-hui personally handed his granddaughter to the groom, showing some reluctance but also offering blessings. During the ceremony, there was an incident involving a protester, but after police intervention, the wedding proceeded smoothly.

In her personal life, Li Kunyi is attentive to pet care; she owns two dogs—a Jack Russell Terrier and a stray dog. She emphasizes that her current priority is living with pets and has not cohabited with a partner. In recent years, Lee Teng-hui has expressed concern about his granddaughter's marriage, hoping she would "find someone who cherishes Xiaoqiao." Her lifestyle and family situation attract a certain level of attention within Taiwanese society and media.
