Introduction

This person was born in March 1921 in Leting County, Hebei Province, and his birth name was Wang Ruiping. He began revolutionary work in November 1937 and joined the Communist Party of China in March 1938. From 1938 to 1942, during the Yan’an period, he studied at and taught in the Central Party School; after 1942 he was transferred to serve as Secretary to the General Branch Committee of the Central Organs at Yangjialing. During the Anti-Japanese War, he served as the director of a military-industrial factory in the Jin-Cha-Ji border region, and oversaw the relocation of the Xuanhua military factory and the construction of a new plant. In the 1950s, he promoted the introduction of advanced Soviet mining equipment and technology, restoring nonferrous metal mining production in Northeast China. In 1990, he successfully organized the 14th World Mining Congress.

His official positions included: member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry (1960–1983), executive director of the China Nonferrous Metal Industry Corporation (1983–1988), and he was elected the first vice chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Society in 1984. In terms of social activities, in 2007 he, as a former executive director, co-signed a petition urging a correction of privatization of state-owned enterprises, and in 2018 he attended the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association’s aging cadres symposium. In 2021 he published reflections on a centennial life, emphasizing the inheritance of revolutionary spirit. Regarding historical witnessing, from 2010 to 2011 he provided the Central Party School with evidence concerning the location of Liu Shaoqi’s speeches, and recalled historical details of the 1943 Yangjialing “Ke Qingshi incident.” His career spanned from the early years of the People’s Republic to the early period of reform and opening.
