Aiden Chien is the eldest son in the family, and his name was given by his father. The character “Xian” (贤) is part of the generational naming pattern and symbolizes “learning from the virtuous and striving to be virtuous.” In his early years, Aiden Chien grew up in the military dependents’ villages in Changhua, and after graduating from high school, he moved to Taipei.
During high school, Aiden Chien began learning the guitar. To pursue a girl at a neighboring school, he actively composed music, using the guitar as his main instrument for creation. Under Taiwanese regulations, males over 18 are required to serve in the military. In 1984, Aiden Chien joined the Taiwan Marine Corps. While in university, he participated in many campus performances, formed the band “ATP,” serving as guitarist and lead vocalist, and worked at Dunhuang Instrument Shop. In 1990, he joined the label “New Trend Records,” releasing his first solo album, “Ask Once More,” officially entering the music industry. Subsequently, he released multiple albums such as “Indifference and Tenderness” and “Flying to My Own Sky,” gradually gaining fame. In 1996, his album “My Heart Is Too Soft,” along with its title track, achieved tremendous success, selling over 26 million copies and setting a record in the Chinese music scene.
In 1998, he released the album “Love is Like the Pacific,” which sold over a million copies. The hit song “Look at the Girl Opposite” gained widespread attention. That same year, he held his first solo concert titled “Qi Journey” and was invited to perform at the 120th Anniversary Celebration of the World Record Industry in Beijing. In 1999, he performed at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, and during this period, he received numerous music awards, establishing a significant position in the Chinese-language music industry.
After entering the new century, Aiden Chien continued to release new works, held concert tours, and expanded into acting in films and TV dramas, including titles like “The Condor Heroes” and “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer.” He earned multiple awards in both music and film/television, becoming a versatile entertainer. Alongside his career, he actively engaged in charity work, serving as an anti-drug ambassador and fundraising for charitable causes.
