Wang Hui

Wang Hui, born on April 17, 1976, in Tianjin, China. She is an artist specializing in Jingyun Dagu (a traditional Chinese drum art form) performance and also engages in crosstalk (xiangsheng) performances. From a young age, Wang Hui studied Jingyun Dagu under the tutelage of Li Shusheng, and she received guidance from the renowned Jingyun Dagu master Luo Yusheng. She also apprenticed with Bai Yunmeng.

She began learning Jingyun Dagu at age 9 and held her first solo performance at age 14. Before turning 20, she had already gained a certain influence within Tianjin's performing arts circle. In 1997, Wang Hui performed in Baoding, Hebei Province, where she met crosstalk performer Guo Degang. They officially married in 2003. In 2006, Wang Hui returned to the stage, performing at Deyun Society. In 2008, she participated in the "Sugo Mid-Autumn Night - Guo Degang's 2008 Nanjing Crosstalk Special." In November 2021, she took part in recording the youth cultural heritage program "Youth Art Keeper." On January 29, 2022, she performed at the Deyun Society Spring Festival Gala on Tianjin Satellite TV, collaborating with Ma Zhiming on a drum and melody piece called "The Illusory Realm of T'ai Hsu."

In July 2024, Wang Hui and Guo Degang jointly became shareholders and established Shanghai Deyun Society Cultural Media Co., Ltd. Regarding performances, she has appeared in operatic works such as "Tans Qingwen," "Meng Jiangnu," and "The Illusory Realm of T'ai Hsu," and released a music single titled "Full Loss" in 2019. She has also participated in various variety shows, including "Youth Art Keeper" in 2021 and "Couple Theater" in 2001.

In terms of family, her husband is Guo Degang, whom she married in 2003. Her stepson is Guo Qilin, born in 1996, fathered by Guo Degang with his ex-wife Hu Zhonghui. Her son, Guo Fanya, was born on January 5, 2015. Her cousin is Zhang Yunlei, whose real name is Zhang Lei; he is the son of Wang Hui's maternal aunt's child.

Regarding mentorship, she has apprenticed under Li Shusheng, Luo Yusheng, and Bai Yunmeng and has guided disciples such as Xing Hewei. On December 5, 2023, her company, Beijing Huanyu Brothers International Cultural Media Co., Ltd., in which she holds shares, was subject to enforced execution by the Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing due to a dispute involving a decoration and renovation contract, with an enforcement amount of approximately 2.63 million yuan.
