Introduction

Princess Gọulun Chunxi, born on October 28, 1671, was an adopted daughter of Emperor Kangxi. Her biological mother was Lady Jin, a concubine of minor rank, and her biological father was Prince Gongning, Kangxi's younger brother. She was raised in the palace from a young age, and Kangxi referred to her as "Grand Princess" in his imperial edict promoting her title.

In 1690 (the 29th year of Kangxi's reign), she was titled Heshuo Chunxi Princess and married Bandi, a top-ranking official of the Khorchin Mongol tribe. Court records also refer to her as Heshuo Chunshen Princess or Khorchin Wule Xisu Princess.

In 1692 (the 31st year of Kangxi), her residence was assigned guards and a chief steward according to the system for managing princes. On December 22, 1692, Shang Zhijie and others delivered goods for the palace, including horses and wool returned from consignments, and she was granted two sable pelts and two otter pelts as reward.

On September 3, circa 1698 (the 37th year of Kangxi), Emperor Kangxi made his third ancestral worship visit to Shengjing (Shenyang). Fearing harm to Tian Chou, the Emperor changed his route to go outside of Kuokou to Shengjing and stayed at Princess Chunxi’s residence; she and her husband hosted a banquet, and at parting, the Emperor bestowed white gold and brocade.

Between approximately 171? and 171?, in Kangxi's 45th year (171? year), the chief physician of the Imperial Hospital, Jiang Xie, accompanied imperial orders to Khorchin. Princess Chunxi arrived there on December 4, and on December 16, she caught a slight cold, treated with Ginseng Su Decoction, and by the next day, her pulse was steady, adjusting her diet for recovery.

On February 25, 1723 (the first year of Yongzheng), she was conferred the title of Gùlún Chunxi Princess. In Yongzheng's second year, her daughter by Wu Yashi, a concubine of Yongzhi, married her son, but according to Kangxi's edict, she was without a formal title; Princess Chunxi petitioned Emperor Shizong to grant her daughter-in-law a rank, and Emperor Yongzheng, favoring Mongolian customs, awarded her the rank of County Princess.

After her Han Chinese husband Bandi passed away, Princess Chunxi resided in Beijing. She died on December 7, 1741, at the age of seventy.
