Introduction
Marc Mezvinsky was born on December 10, 1977, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He pursued higher education at Stanford University, where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies and philosophy. Following his undergraduate studies, Mezvinsky attended Pembroke College at the University of Oxford, earning a Master of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
He is the son of Edward Mezvinsky, born in 1937, and Marjorie Margolies, born in 1942. Both of his parents served as members of the United States House of Representatives as Democrats. Mezvinsky has ten siblings, including five adopted siblings. His mother authored a book titled "They Came to Stay," which recounts her experiences with adoption from Korea and Vietnam as a single woman. The Mezvinsky family has been involved in providing refuge and medical aid to orphaned children from abroad, facilitating surgeries and adoptions for children from various countries.
In his early life, Mezvinsky attended a Conservative Jewish synagogue and the Friends' Central School, a Quaker educational institution located outside of Philadelphia.
In 1993, Mezvinsky met Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, during a Democratic political retreat in Hilton Head, South Carolina. His parents had political connections with the Clintons through their service in Congress. Their relationship was publicly reported in 2005, and they became engaged in 2009. They were married in July 2010 in Rhinebeck, New York, in an interfaith ceremony.
Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky have three children: a daughter named Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky, born on September 26, 2014; a son named Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky, born on June 18, 2016; and another son, Jasper Clinton Mezvinsky, born on July 22, 2019.
In addition to his personal life, Mezvinsky has engaged in philanthropic activities. He serves on the boards of the Pembroke College Foundation and the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases, organizations dedicated to advancing medical research through collaboration and patient-centered approaches. He has also been a board member of the Madison Square Park Conservancy.
His business career includes early experience at Goldman Sachs, where he worked as an emerging markets foreign exchange strategist before moving to the global macro proprietary trading desk. He later became a senior partner at 3G Capital. In 2012, he founded Eaglevale Partners, a hedge fund focused on currencies, commodities, and bonds, which closed in 2016. Subsequently, in 2017, Mezvinsky joined Social Capital as Vice Chairman, where he contributed to business development and portfolio management until his departure in spring 2018. In 2019, he joined TPG as a managing director and business unit partner, and in 2022, he attained the position of partner at the firm.
