You Yingqi was born in mainland China; her exact birth date has not been disclosed. She is a renowned Chinese singer and actress. Influenced by her grandfather, You Benchang, from a young age, she developed a solid foundation in traditional Chinese culture, which has been an important part of her growth. Her grandfather played the role of Jigong in the 1985 television drama "Jigong," gaining notable reputation. Her family members include her grandmother, Yang Huihua; her sister, You Yeyingqi; and her aunt, You Sihans.
You Yingqi began studying Peking Opera at the age of 8 and started learning Kunqu Opera at 11. In 2017, she was invited to participate in BTV's Mid-Autumn program "Inheriting Traditional Chinese Opera," showcasing her talents in traditional opera. In April of the same year, she performed the Peking Opera "Mu Guiying Leading the Army" at the first National Children’s Opera Competition, winning a gold medal.
In January 2018, she performed the Peking Opera "The Drunken Concubine" at the Tokyo Chinese New Year Gala. In April, she performed "Mu Guiying Leading the Army" at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing for foreign guests. In July, she participated in the 22nd China Children’s Opera Festival, singing Peking Opera "The Legend of T'ai Chen" and Kunqu Opera "The Peony Pavilion: The Garden of Dreams," playing Du Liniang and winning the Golden Plum Blossom Award. Her portrayal of Du Liniang in "The Peony Pavilion" was particularly outstanding.
In 2019, You Yingqi participated in CCTV’s charity program "Love to Grow – Spring Festival Dream Assistance Gala" and received the Excellent Performance Award at the second World Health Forum’s charity performance. In 2020, she took part in the Ministry of Culture’s "I am a Volunteer" cultural volunteer service project, performing a special program for Children’s Day.
In 2021, she won the Global Classic Art Child Gold Award at the Spring Festival Gala of the World Cultural and Tourism Baby Art Festival with a self-created and directed Kunqu performance. In July, she received the "Baby’s Appearance Award" on CCTV’s "Baby Show" program. In November, her Kunqu performance of "The Peony Pavilion" at the 12th National Opera Cup Competition won the Gold Award in the middle school individual category.
In February 2022, You Yingqi participated in the CCTV Lantern Festival Opera Gala. On January 23, 2025, she performed for the first time alongside her grandfather, You Benchang, at the "2024 Night of Classics" Annual Gala, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Beyond her acting and singing career, You Yingqi actively participates in social philanthropy. She has worked with her sister, You Yeyingqi, to teach orphans and left-behind children in Tibet and donated learning and daily supplies to elderly residents in nursing homes and hospitals during the pandemic.
