Introduction
Liu Kang is the grandson of Zhu De, a founding father of the People’s Republic of China and the first of its Ten Marshals. He is the son of Zhu Min and was born into a family with a strong revolutionary background. His mother, Zhu Min, studied at the Moscow Lenin Teachers College in the Soviet Union before returning to China to teach in the Russian Department at Beijing Normal University, where she placed great emphasis on her children’s education.
Liu Kang grew up in Beijing and received a good education from an early age. Like his brothers and sisters, he was deeply influenced by his grandfather Zhu De, valuing both learning and hard work.
As a young man, Liu Kang took part in social and economic development efforts, experiencing China’s reform and opening-up period firsthand. He worked in several different sectors over the years and led a modest and practical life
