Introduction

Ezayi (?—1641), Hadanalashi, Manchu Zhenghuang Banner person. A military figure in the early Qing Dynasty, served as Empress Dowager's consort. Also known by alternative names Etuoyi and Yetui. His family was the ruler of Hadar Kingdom, and Ezayi was the great-grandson of Hao Yaoxuan, the Hadal Beile king. His great-grandfather Xiagu, during the reign of Qing Taizu, led eighteen households to surrender; Emperor Taizu granted his family five hereditary assistant commanders. His father Mandarhan was Xiagu's grandson, served as Minister of Rites, and was sent to Korea. Due to military merits, he was promoted to the second-class Jiala Zhangjing. Ezayi held official positions as Niu Lu Zhangjing in the Manchu system, later becoming a Qidu Wei (riding captain). In the 4th year of Tianming (1619), Nurhaci married his seventh daughter to Ezayi. The seventh daughter held the rank of Xiangjun (County Lady), but was not titled as princess. In April of the 6th year of Chongde (1641), Ezayi was killed in battle. In April of the 24th year of Kangxi (1685), Xiangjun died at the age of 82. Reference: "Qing Shi Gao," Princess Table.
