He Xiaoping

He Xiaoping, female, of Yongxin, Jiangxi Province, is the daughter of He Minxue and Li Liying, and also the niece of He Zizhen. Her family background is closely linked to the history of the Chinese revolution, as both her parents are individuals of notable historical significance.

For a long period after the founding of the People's Republic of China, He Xiaoping’s family members lived together, especially around the time He Zizhen returned from the Soviet Union to China. He Minxue’s wife, Li Liying, took He Xiaoping to Harbin to meet He Zizhen. This reunion was an important family event and fostered a deep emotional bond among the three. During their time in Harbin, He Zizhen showed concern and care for Li Liying and He Xiaoping, inquiring in detail about their family situation, which reflected the close relationship among family members.

Prior to this, He Xiaoping had met her long-absent father and her aunt He Yí in Shanghai after the liberation. A significant event in Chinese history unfolded on September 9, 1976: the death of Chairman Mao. This event remained a key memory for the nation. At 4:30 p.m. that afternoon, the news was broadcast nationwide, but He Zizhen had already received an advanced notice at 3:30 a.m. on the same day. At the time, He Xiaoping was in Shanghai. After learning the news, she was taken by Shanghai officials to He Zizhen’s residence and received personal care and attention.

He Xiaoping’s life experiences are closely intertwined with major historical events in China and the changing dynamics of family relationships, reflecting the interactions and emotional bonds among family members during that period. Her personal growth to some extent mirrors the social and familial transformations following the founding of New China, as well as her unique personal life trajectory amid these significant historical changes.
