Sun Weie

Sun Weie, female, was born in 1916 as the eldest daughter of Sun Yueqi and his first wife, Ge Caixiang. She grew up in a family that valued both scholarship and industry, as her father Sun Yueqi was a prominent industrialist and social activist in modern China.

In 1912, Sun Yueqi married Ge Caixiang in Liuwu Village, Zhuji County. Their marriage was harmonious, and in 1914 their eldest son, Sun Zhusheng, was born, followed by the birth of Sun Weie in 1916. In 1922, Ge Caixiang died of illness, leaving behind a son and a daughter. Thus, Sun Weie lost her mother at a young age.

Although historical records provide little detail about Sun Weie’s personal life, her identity as Sun Yueqi’s eldest daughter places her within the broader legacy of the Sun family. Her elder brother, Sun Zhusheng, later became a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University, a railway vehicle expert, and an educator, experiencing both professional recognition and political hardship.

Sun Weie’s life remains primarily preserved in family records, where she is remembered as the eldest daughter of Sun Yueqi and Ge Caixiang, representing an important part of the Sun family lineage.
