Introduction

Tadahiro Konoe (born July 18, 1970) is a Japanese creative director, designer, filmmaker, and branding advisor. He hails from Minato Ward, Tokyo. He graduated as the first class of the Department of Filmmaking at Musashino Art University's Faculty of Fine Arts.

Educational background and career history include graduating from Gakushuin High School in 1990, followed by completing his studies at Musashino Art University in 1994. After graduation, he joined NHK and worked as a video director. In 1996, he left NHK to study abroad and later worked with SUN Produce, involved in producing television programs and event planning.

Since 1997, he has served as an instructor for the Imperial Court's annual Kagai Hanamisaki (Imperial Court Song Competition). In 2004, he established GT Partners Inc., initiating his business activities. In 2013, he became a director of Colours International Inc. In 2015, he was appointed as an adviser to the Yomeibo Bunko Foundation, and in 2016, he became the president of the Jūyonze Rokkōtō Memorial Foundation. In 2018, he assumed the role of CEO of Curioswitch Inc.

Additionally, from 2020, he has been a member of the Tourism Agency’s “Tourism Strategy Committee for Creating Quality inbound Tourism Services,” and in 2021, he participated in the agency’s “Study Group for High-Value-Added Regional Inbound Tourism Destinations.” Since 2021, he has also served as the chairman of Non-Profit Organization Nanago.

Regarding his personal background, he spent his childhood at Shibuya’s Matsutō Kindergarten, and in his early youth, he lived for eight years in Geneva, Switzerland, enabling him to speak English and French. His family background includes his father, the head of the Konoe family, the foremost of the Five Regent Houses, and Honorary President of the Japanese Red Cross Society, Tadahiro Konoe. His mother is the eldest daughter of Prince Takahito Mikasa and Princess Yuriko, namely Nyoho Konoe (Nyoho Naishinnō).

He has family ties with relatives such as his cousin, Sen Sōsa (the 15th head of the Omotesenke family), and spent summers at his grandfather Hoshino Moriyoshi’s villa in Karuizawa. Growing up abroad and engaging in numerous overseas visits and international assignments for television production has influenced his current activities.

As a creative director, he has been involved in video and event planning, including producing TV programs for NHK. His activities also encompass planning and designing for fashion brands and organizing various cultural activities. From the perspective of cultural preservation, he promotes Japanese culture and the dissemination of waka poetry, serving as an instructor for the Imperial Court Kagai and participating in events where he recites waka wearing Heian-period attire, contributing to the preservation and promotion of waka culture.

He also collaborated on NHK’s documentary series “The Konoe Family and the Pacific War” and actively contributes to various media outlets with articles and interviews.
