Introduction
Prince Zhou Youfa of Ji, born in 1479 and died in 1510, was the eldest son of the first-generation Ji Prince, Zhu Jianwang of the Ming Dynasty. He was the father of Ji Ding Wang, Zhu Houyou.
In July of the 20th year of Chenghua (1484), he was granted the name Youfa and was subsequently bestowed the title of Changshan Prince, although the exact year of this ennoblement is not recorded. In November of the 10th year of Hongzhi (1497), the court granted the daughter of Zhou Da, the deputy commander of Nancheng soldiers, as the princess consort of Changshan. At the same time, Zhang Shi, daughter of Zhang Wenzhi from Xiangyang, became the secondary princess.
He had a son, Zhu Houyou, who was later posthumously promoted to Ji Heir. Zhu Youfa died in the 5th year of Zhengde (1510), with the posthumous title of Prince Daozhuang. His eldest surviving son, Zhu Houyou, inherited the title of Ji Prince and was posthumously honored as Prince Dao of Ji.
There is limited information about Zhu Youfa’s other children, possibly because they died at a young age.
