Shawn Hu

Hu Shi-an was born into a family in the entertainment industry. His father is the well-known host Hu Gua (Hu Zixiong), his mother is host Hu Xiuxiu, and his older sister is host Hu Yingzhen. His parents divorced in 2001, and Hu Shi-an lived with his mother. In 2009, at just 14, he went to the United States to study at a Christian school. He later enrolled at the University of California, Riverside, majoring in mass communication, and completed his bachelor’s degree in only three years. After graduating from college, Hu Shi-an returned to Taiwan to fulfill his military service.

After being discharged in July 2017, Hu Shi-an began actively attending auditions and seeking acting opportunities. In 2018, he made his film debut in the movie "王牌教师麻辣出击" (Ace Teacher), playing a member of the basketball team. The film was directed by Zhang Zheshu and starred Hsieh Tzu‑wu and Lin Mei‑xiu. Around the same time, he took part in the puzzle-variety show "欢乐智多星", the live quiz show "一呼百应", and the urban romance drama "20之后" (After 20), in which he played the sweet‑natured, talented student Xu Lixiong. For that drama, Hu Shi-an was nominated for Best New Actor in a Drama Program at the 54th Taiwan Golden Bell Awards. He also appeared on the variety program "型男大主厨" (Stylish Man, the Chef).

In 2019, Hu Shi-an starred in the urban romance series "男神时代" (The Era of Male Idols), portraying Cao Guokui, an editor at Yuancheng Reading. In 2020 he joined the cast of the firefighter-themed drama "火神的眼泪" (Tears of the Fire God), which stars Wen Shenghao, Chen Tingni, and Lin Bo‑hong and aired the following year. He has also appeared as a guest on the online talk show "佼心食堂".

Hu Shi-an is 184 cm tall, with a prominent aquiline nose and a gentle appearance. His looks perform well on camera and are often described as a highlight. He is recognized in the industry for his composed and poised presence. Director Wang Xiaodi once remarked that his acting showed early promise—completing a shot in just two takes and displaying the air of a seasoned performer. Several magazines have labeled him a “boy‑next‑door”; his measured way of speaking gives people a sense of reassurance. His promising acting career continues to develop.
