Martha Burgess

Martha Burgess (1671 – September 3, 1728) was the maternal grandmother of Rutherford B. Hayes, the President of the United States from 1877 to 1881. She was the mother of Mary Storrs, who was born in May 1710 and died on August 31, 1797, and the grandmother of Sarah Jacob, born in 1735 and died in 1815. Martha Burgess was the mother of Mary Storrs, making her the maternal ancestor in the lineage that led to Rutherford B. Hayes through his mother Sophia Birchard.
