Introduction

Huang Yici was born on February 6, 2006, in Beijing. Her father is mainland Chinese actor, director, screenwriter, singer and teacher Huang Lei, and her mother is mainland Chinese actress Sun Li. Her name was given by her father Huang Lei and is meant to convey being multi‑talented and blessed with good fortune and longevity.

From childhood Huang Yici began to take part in entertainment and public activities. On May 31, 2011, she appeared on the Hunan TV talk show A Date with Luyu, making her first television appearance at the age of five. Her natural, poised manner attracted public attention. In 2014 she took part with her father Huang Lei in the Hunan TV parent‑child reality show Where Are We Going, Dad? (Season 2), where she was seen as sensible, humorous and caring toward other children, earning audience approval. That same year she also appeared with her father on the Hunan TV variety show Day Day Up.

Huang Yici’s voice‑acting career began in 2014: she dubbed the characters “Big and Little Beaver” in the 3D animated film Ice Age: The Meltdown, and her clear, cute voice won audience favor. That year she also sang the insert song “Niǔ Yāo Gē” (literally “Waist‑Twisting Song”) for the animated film McDull, Me & My Mum. In 2015 the variety film Where Are We Going, Dad? 2, in which she and her father appeared, was released. That year she also dubbed the “girl” role in the French animated film The Little Prince, demonstrating strong voice acting and receiving praise from the director and crew.

In 2016 Huang Yici continued her voice work, contributing the voice for the little red panda “Lei Lei” in the American animated film Kung Fu Panda 3; together with her father Huang Lei she helped bring the character’s lively, adorable traits to life. She also voiced “Sophie” in the French animated film 圆梦巨人 (literal translation: “The Dream Giant”), marking further development in her animation dubbing career.

In 2017 Huang Yici made her first runway appearance at the Paris Bonpoint fashion show, appearing alongside Li Yan and showing potential as a model. In 2018 she made her stage debut in the play The Book in the Water (directed by Stan Lai), playing the role “Shui’er,” thereby entering the field of stage performance. The play was adapted into a film in 2020, and her performance in the production was well received.

In 2025 she was announced to be cast in the art film Ren·Yu (Chinese title: 人·鱼, literally “Human·Fish”), directed by Cheng Er and starring Wang Yibo, which is expected to be released soon. In addition, Huang Yici continues to take part in rereleases of dubbed films, television program recordings and stage productions, steadily developing her career in acting and voice work.
