Introduction
Frederic William MacDonald was born on 25 February 1842 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. He was the second son and the fifth child of George Browne Macdonald, a Wesleyan Methodist minister, and his wife Hannah Jones. MacDonald pursued religious and literary pursuits throughout his life.
He was married twice. His first marriage was to Mary Cork on 11 August 1866. Later, he married Elizabeth Anne Wright on 25 July 1916. MacDonald had sisters who were associated with the group known as the Birmingham Set.
Frederic W. MacDonald died on 16 October 1928 in Bournemouth, Dorset, England.
