Marina Ogilvy

Marina Victoria Alexandra Ogilvy was born on 31 July 1966 at Thatched House Lodge in Richmond Park, London. She is the only daughter of Sir Angus Ogilvy and Princess Alexandra of Kent. Her maternal grandmother was Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, making Marina Ogilvy the granddaughter of Princess Alexandra of Kent. Both her mother and Princess Marina were granddaughters of King George V, establishing her as a first cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth II and a second cousin of King Charles III. As of January 2025, she is 62nd in the line of succession to the British throne.

Her elder brother is James Ogilvy, born in 1964. Marina was baptized on 2 September 1966 at the Private Chapel at Kensington Palace. The baptism was officiated by Arthur Michael Ramsey, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

In her personal life, Marina announced in November 1989 that she was pregnant by her boyfriend, Paul Julian Mowatt, a freelance photographer born on 28 November 1962 in Hendon. She reported that her parents attempted to pressure her into having an abortion or a shotgun wedding, and she claimed they cut off her financial support and disowned her when she refused. She reported writing a letter to Queen Elizabeth II, addressed as "Dear Cousin Lilibet," requesting intervention in the family dispute. Her parents denied these allegations, asserting they loved her, had not cut her off financially, and welcomed her home at any time.

Marina Ogilvy married Paul Julian Mowatt on 2 February 1990 in Richmond Park, Surrey. She wore a red velvet bolero with gold trim, a black dress, and a black hat for the occasion. The wedding was attended by her parents and brother, but not by Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Charles. The couple has two children: Zenouska May Mowatt, born in London on 26 May 1990, who is the Head of Marketing at Katharine Pooley, and Christian Alexander Mowatt, born in London on 4 June 1993. Marina and Paul Mowatt divorced on 15 October 1997 after seven years of marriage.
