Introduction
George Watson was born on 20 February 1768 and died on 17 June 1824. He was a British politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) during the early 19th century.
He was the son of Lewis Watson, 1st Baron Sondes of Lees Court, Kent. His mother was Grace, the daughter and coheir of Hon. Henry Pelham of Esher Place, Surrey. Henry Pelham later became Prime Minister of Great Britain.
George Watson received his education at Eton College, attending from 1780 to 1785.
His political career included serving as the MP for Canterbury, a position he held from 1800 until 1806.
In addition to his parliamentary service, he was appointed High Sheriff of Rutland for the term 1811–1812.
George Watson remained unmarried at the time of his death. He passed away at the age of 56 and was buried at Rockingham, Northamptonshire.
