Introduction
William Madison was born on May 5, 1762, and died on July 20, 1843. He was an American military officer who participated in the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Madison attended Hampden–Sydney College during his early education.
He was the son of James Madison Sr. and Eleanor Rose Conway. William Madison was the younger brother of James Madison, who served as the fourth president of the United States.
William Madison married Frances Throckmorton. Together, they had eleven children. Among his descendants was James E. Slaughter, who became a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army.
